InspectEquip™ is designed to help workshops, mechanics, and operators record and generate inspection, breakdown, and repair reports quickly and efficiently.
This page covers common questions about inspections, breakdowns, repairs, customers, vehicles, subscriptions, device transfers, reports, tutorials, and troubleshooting.
From the home screen, you can access inspections, breakdown reports, repair reports, customer and vehicle management, subscription management, and settings.
To begin an inspection, tap Inspections, start a new inspection, select the vehicle or equipment type, enter the job details, and complete the checklist items as required.
Each inspection is automatically assigned a unique Inspection ID and records inspection results, notes, photos, and report information.
Item Condition
Inspection items may also be left unselected if they are not required as part of the report. Unselected items are hidden from generated reports by default. This behaviour can be enabled or disabled in Report Settings.
Breakdown reports are used to document faults, findings, repairs carried out, parts used, machine status, and related notes when a vehicle, machine, or piece of equipment has broken down.
To create a breakdown report, tap Breakdowns from the home screen and create a new report. Enter the customer, vehicle or machine details, then complete the breakdown details and status fields.
Breakdown reports can include photos, signatures, technician comments, status information, and a breakdown-specific disclaimer based on your Report Settings.
Repair reports are used to document repair or rectification work completed on a vehicle, machine, or piece of equipment.
To create a repair report, tap Repairs from the home screen and create a new report. Enter the customer, vehicle or machine details, then add one or more repair items.
Each repair item can include the fault or defect reported, technician findings, repair work carried out, parts used, and photos.
Repair reports can include photos, signatures, technician comments, status information, and a repair-specific disclaimer based on your Report Settings.
Inspection, breakdown, and repair progress is stored locally while you work. However, data is currently stored locally on your device only.
Inspections, breakdowns, and repairs can generate PDF reports containing details such as:
Reports can be printed, shared, emailed, or saved to your device or cloud storage.
We recommend using a cloud storage service such as Google Drive, iCloud Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox if you want additional backup protection for your generated PDF reports.
Customer and vehicle records are stored locally on your device and can be used when creating inspections, breakdown reports, and repair reports.
From the Manage Customers page, you can add, edit, search, and delete customer records and their associated vehicles.
InspectEquip can export and import customer and vehicle data to help with backups, moving to a new phone or tablet, or setting up an additional workshop device.
From the Manage Customers page, use the menu in the top right to export or import customer and vehicle data.
The export creates a ZIP file containing customer and vehicle data only.
The export does not include:
When importing, customers and vehicles are merged into your existing data. Existing data is not wiped. Duplicates are skipped where possible.
Report Settings allow you to manage your company header, contact details, logo, report display options, and report disclaimers.
Inspections, breakdown reports, and repair reports can each have their own disclaimer text and disclaimer visibility setting.
You can edit or reset each disclaimer from Report Settings.
InspectEquip uses a licence-based subscription system rather than user accounts.
Access to subscription features depends on:
Some subscription plans may allow multiple registered devices.
Use Restore Purchases if you already have an active subscription and need to restore access on another device using the same app store account.
For example:
If changing platforms, you may need to cancel the existing subscription through the original app store and subscribe again on the new platform.
If your subscription device limit has already been reached, InspectEquip may require recovery email verification before transferring access to a new device.
Once verified:
Customer and vehicle data is not automatically transferred as part of subscription access recovery. Use the customer and vehicle export/import feature if you need to move customer and vehicle records to another device.
A recovery email can be used to help recover subscription access and manage registered devices.
You should ensure your recovery email remains accessible and up to date.
InspectEquip supports temporary offline access after successful subscription verification.
The app may periodically require an internet connection to:
If entitlement verification cannot be completed within the allowed period, access to subscription features may become restricted until verification succeeds again.
PIN security is enabled by default to help protect data stored on the device.
Changing your PIN from Settings will not erase your stored data.
Make sure:
Some subscription plans limit the number of registered devices. Recovering access on another device may replace the previously active device.
Inspection, breakdown, repair, customer, and vehicle data is currently stored locally on the device. Deleted app data, device resets, app removal, or device loss may result in permanent data loss.
If you previously exported customer and vehicle data, you can import the ZIP file from the Manage Customers page.
